Title Sequences that have Influenced our Film Opening

The Stepfather has influenced our Structure of our Thriller Film Opening as the Mental Girl walks silently around the Asylum before anything is said or done. We got this idea from The Stepfather as he slowly walks around the house before exiting and we see dead bodies therefore we assume that he has done it. This also brings the 'Thriller Factor' to our opening scene as the audience will be wanting to know, How did she get there ? What Happened Previously ? just like we did whilst watching the Stepfather. We are hoping by doing this it will engage the audience whilst they are watching our Thriller Film Opening.

Asylum has had an influence on our Thriller Film Opening as we have chosen to do a Sub-Genre which is Thriler/Horror. The film Asylum will bring the 'Horror Factor' to our Film Opening. We have decided to base our Film Opening on this film as its about a girl who was in a Asylum therefore we want to portray that in our Film Opening. We decided to use this content as its a great mixture of Horror and Thriller which we always wanted to do as our Film Opening.

Story Board of Our Thriller Opening

This is our Story Board for our Thriller Film Opening.

All the shots that are taken here are the shots that we want to use when we start filming to get the full affect of the Thriller/Horror Sub-Genre.

We hope to get all the shots accurate and correct.

Prelim Analysis

Analysising Prelim Clip

In the process of making the prelim clip , we were not aware of the accuracy and precision of fliming but after looking at the clip , there were improvements to be made.
Our Camera Shots we sucessfully done to standard and the task was fully completed to our ablity.
We needed to improve on our clip to flow nicely with ever scene therefore our clip had many jumps.
We failed to use a reverse shot in the process of making our prelim clip.
Also our clip wasnt focused enough therefore the outcome of clip was blurry
Another problem that effected our clip was the interfering sound ,which didnt quite go with the clip. This problem could be solved with soundpro , this would allow us to dub over the interefing sound.
BUT
We have learned from our mistakes and will make sure our final project meets high standards and hopefully would come across as professional , well lets just see I suppose...!!

Advertisement Analysis of the Film: I Give It A Year

Today I was reading the Metro and I crossed past an advertisement for this film “I give it a year”. I could tell what the Genre of the film is by just looking at the advertisement so I figured, Why not Blog about it?

The Genre of the film looks like a Romantic Comedy. The big bright red font used illustrates this as it connotes love. The position of the actors and the red sofa (Mise en Scene) that is used brings out the Love Factor as both the man and woman sitting down have very close body language towards each other therefore it shows that they may be in some type of relationship together. The background is also clear white.  This brings out the bright red even more and allows it to stand out from the Newspaper.

This advertisement allows people to guess what type of story line this film is going to be based upon. I can sense jealously from the characters behind the man and the woman on the sofa as there body language is very distant from them and they are also looking down on them therefore they might think of themselves as slightly superior to them. By putting the two characters on the red Sofa in the middle of the advertisement also shows that they are the main characters in the film and the film revolves around them and their relationship.
This advertisement made it clear to me that as audience members we automatically can see the genre of the film by just viewing the advertisement shown.

Our Target Audience

As our Film will be a Horror/Thriller we would set the age rating as a 15 therefore the film will be aimed at people who are aged 15 and over.

We will also target both Men and Women as our audience. We feel that both can relate to the film as it is based around a young girl but it's a thriller and as shown through research, Men prefer Thriller films over women.

Our Ideas for our Thriller Film Opening.

1. We want it to be based in a type of Mental Asylum where a girl lives with other Mental People. This will be Sub - Genre as it will be a mixture of Thriller and Horror (a Horror Thriller).

Plot:

  • She wakes up and finds herself in a mental Asylum with her Teddy Bear.
  • She then opens the different doors trying to find her purpose, there she discovers other Mental People.
  • She then opens the last door and drops her Teddy Bear.
  • She then Cries Blood.

Roles:

Bradley - Filming.
Reanne - Acting as the main girl with her Teddy Bear.
Kavita - Another mental person in the institution.

2. We would like to use intertextuality where we take some scenes from the Stepfather (2009) and make it our own.

Plot:
  • He is leaving the house and decides to make himself a cup of coffee.
  • Whilst doing this he turns on the Radio like any other day.
  • We then discover two dead women in the house.
  • He then picks up his bag to leave.
  • He has a quick Flash-Back about the killing.
  • Then he finally leaves the house.
Roles:

Reanne - Filming/Dead Girl.
Bradley - Acting as the 'Stepfather'.
Kavita - Filming/Dead Girl.
