Advertisement Analysis of the Film: I Give It A Year

Today I was reading the Metro and I crossed past an advertisement for this film “I give it a year”. I could tell what the Genre of the film is by just looking at the advertisement so I figured, Why not Blog about it?

The Genre of the film looks like a Romantic Comedy. The big bright red font used illustrates this as it connotes love. The position of the actors and the red sofa (Mise en Scene) that is used brings out the Love Factor as both the man and woman sitting down have very close body language towards each other therefore it shows that they may be in some type of relationship together. The background is also clear white.  This brings out the bright red even more and allows it to stand out from the Newspaper.

This advertisement allows people to guess what type of story line this film is going to be based upon. I can sense jealously from the characters behind the man and the woman on the sofa as there body language is very distant from them and they are also looking down on them therefore they might think of themselves as slightly superior to them. By putting the two characters on the red Sofa in the middle of the advertisement also shows that they are the main characters in the film and the film revolves around them and their relationship.
This advertisement made it clear to me that as audience members we automatically can see the genre of the film by just viewing the advertisement shown.
