THE HITCHCOCKS BOMB THEORY- When the audience is aware of the danger , just like a bomb under the table but the characters in the film are unaware of it.For example in the Stepfather the bomb was the man is the bomb as he is a killer , the audience have knowledge about what kind of man he is , in this case he is dangerous and a threat to the new family he has joined but they believe his innocent.

THE FALSE PLATEAU- This is where suspense is built up but then the audience is made to feel relax and calm. Then the shock happens afterwards. For instant the womenin the bath in fatal attraction coming back to life.
Another example is in 'The Stepfather' a false plateau occurs when the cat jumps out , this made the audience feel frightened and was a attack of suprise but then the tension died down , then suddenly the killer appears from no where , this made the viewers feel even more frightened at this point.
