Sound: At the beginning of the opening scene Diegetic Sound is used when the people on bicycles ride past as the audience can hear the sound of the wheels. This shows that it is a normal day and people are doing routine actions therefore the audience are expecting the next scene to be related to routine actions such as, Waking up, Brushing Teeth, Eating Breakfast etc. Non Diegetic sound is introduced in the next scene as it sounds like rain hitting the ground then vibrating for a while. This is repeated throughout and connotes sadness as rain relates to Tears. Tension is also built by this Non Diegetic sound as it allows the audience to infer what will happen next. This could also reflect how a character within this scene is feeling. Diegetic sound is used again when the character puts on her heels and starts walking we can hear the 'Clip Clop' sound. This is sound on set and helps build up tension for the audience as its slow steps and isn't used much within the scene therefore its something different. Non Diegetic sound is used (which sounds like a scape of a violin) when focused on the arm holding the mobile phone. This is an unusual sound and is a sound that is used mainly in Thrillers therefore the audience initially know the genre of the film. The sound also creates a frightened feel to the scene as its a quick sound and doesn't reveal much, but as an audience we can tell that something isn't right.
Camera: In the opening scene a Pan is used where the camera is on a fixed point and it swivels to the right. The Pan is used when the Camera is focused on the Street before it enters the room. This makes the audience see the whole setting and allows the audience to gather their thoughts and feelings towards the opening scene. The camera then moves up slowly to where it zooms in to the outside of the Apparent Room. This makes the audience focus on the outside and whether or not it is the real outside of the room where it is filmed, the audience automatically think it is. A Close Up is used once the camera takes us into the room. This first items we see in the Close Up is a tablet and a Glass of water. By using the Close Up it emphases these items to the audience and allows the audience to question Why are they there ? What has happened ? This draws the audience into the opening scene. Another Close Up is used once the Camera focuses on the girl, this only allows us to see half of her face therefore as an audience member the character isn't fully revealed to us yet. A Slight High Angle shot is used when the girl is applying her Red Lipstick. This creates an innocent tone towards the girl as she comes across as very carm and natural. Another close up is used when the girl pulls up her top, This relates to her age as we see the teddy bear in the background as the close up emphases it. We also see a close up of her shoes as she puts them on and gets off the bed to walk which shows that where she is must be familiar as she's comfortable enough to take off her shoes. The close up allows the audience to infer that this room must be hers not anyone Else's. This is contradicted when the Big Close up of a arm is focused on by the Camera. By using a Big Close up allows the audience to see enough but not everything therefore the audience are wondering, Who is that ? What happened ?
Editing: Match Cuts are used in the Room scene when the girl picks up items such as the glass of Water that she drinks out of. This emphasises the action that she does and also shows the audience everything that she is doing at that place in time. Transitions are used throughout the scene where the scenes fade in and out. This suggests that the actions of the character in the scene is closely linked. This also makes the audience understand the text better as it gives the audience mini breaks which allows the audience to take in everything that has happened and evaluate. Slow motion is used when the girl turns around to look at the bed. This makes that action seem significant to the audience as it helps the audience take in the dramatic action and the fact that we don't see where she is looking at straight away also helps build tension in that scene. Editing for Perspective is used throughout the scene as the scene appears to be from the girls perspective throughout and doesn't give us any other perspective.
